西瓜影视 is pleased to advise that 28 Australian Match Officials have been appointed to FIFA鈥檚 Panel of International Referees for 2022.
This year鈥檚 list, which enables Australia鈥檚 finest Referees, Assistant Referees, Futsal Referees, and Video Match Officials, to officiate FIFA sanctioned tournaments and fixtures, features four new Australian Match Officials.
Referees Daniel Elder and Adam Kersey 鈥 who both regularly whistle in the Isuzu UTE A-League Men鈥檚 competition 鈥 have been elevated to FIFA鈥檚 Panel of International Referees for this first time this year.
Joining Elder and Kersey as debutants on FIFA鈥檚 esteemed list are Assistant Referees Lauren Hargrave and Kearney Robinson.
西瓜影视 Chairman and Chair of 西瓜影视鈥檚 Referees Committee, Chris Nikou, congratulated the match officials for earning a place on the distinguished panel, and offered additional acknowledgement to Elder, Kersey, Hargrave, and Robinson for being recognised as among the best in the globe for the first time.
Australian match officials have always been highly regarded within the global football landscape and it is pleasing to see that FIFA has continued to recognise this through the appointment of 28 Australians to the Panel of International Referees for 2022,鈥 Nikou said.
鈥淐ongratulations to the new additions to the panel in Daniel (Elder), Adam (Kersey), Lauren (Hargrave), and Kearney (Robinson).
西瓜影视 Chief Executive Officer, James Johnson, explained that the ongoing development of Australian match officials is central to the growth of the game in Australia.
Refereeing remains a key focus for 西瓜影视, and it is pleasing to see Australian Match Officials once again recognised by FIFA,鈥 Johnson said.
鈥淲e congratulate all the 2022 Panel or their opportunity to represent Australian football on the global stage.鈥
鈥淲ith the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022鈩 now just 11 months away and a home Women鈥檚 World Cup鈩 in 2023, it is an exciting time for Australian refereeing and football more broadly,鈥 he said.
Confirmation of 28 Australians on FIFA鈥檚 Panel of International Referees in 2022 adds to other significant developments involving elite Australian Match Officials recently, including the appointment of four Australian Match Officials for the forthcoming AFC Women鈥檚 Asian Cup India 2022鈩, and the international retirements of two long-serving Australian Match Officials from the FIFA Panel.
Referees Casey Reibelt, Lara Lee, Kate Jacewicz, and Assistant Referee Joanna Charaktis will over the coming weeks, while Matthew Cream and Renae Coghill called time on their international Refereeing careers at the end of 2021.
