CommBank Young Matildas remain undefeated in PacificAus Four Nations Tournament

The CommBank Young Matildas have set-up a winner-takes-all match-up Thailand U-20 after a 12-0 victory over Solomon Islands on Match Day 2 of the PacificAus Sports Four Nations Tournament.

With the goal difference advantage, a draw in the final match will see the Young Matildas walk away with the trophy for the second straight tournament. Only a win will be good enough for Thailand.

Against the Solomon Islands, a rampaging Peta Trimis ensured that there would be no doubt, with the Central Coast Mariners striker scoring four goals in a memorable performance which saw her score two goals in each half.

Her first two goals came from short corner routines while she opened the second half with her hat-trick just 90 seconds after the break before scoring her fourth and final goal midway through the second stanza with an excellent finish.

Three more Australians scored multiple goals with Shelby McMahon, Alexis Collins and Caley Tallon-Henniker both claiming braces.

Maya Lobo and Sienna Saveska also got on the scoresheet with Lobo鈥檚 goal in particular getting the crowd off its feet. The defender putting the ball into the top corner from outside the box.

For the Solomon Islands, their best chance fell to Jemina David whose shot looked certain to hit the back of the net before bouncing off the post away from goal.

Australia鈥檚 victory means a draw against Thailand U-20 will be enough to lift the PacificAus Sports Four Nations trophy with both nations going into Tuesday鈥檚 final match of the tournament undefeated.

Entry to the final match day is free of charge with kick-off between Australia U-20 and Thailand U-20 at 6:30pm at Deakin Park. The first match of the day between Solomon Islands and Vanuatu will begin at 3pm.

Clinical Thailand U-20 Cruise Past Vanuatu

Thailand U-20 showed their class with a dominant 8-0 win over Vanuatu on Match Day 2 of the PacificAus Sports Four Nations Tournament in Canberra.

In front of Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, Thai captain Rinyaphat Moondong led the way with a hat-trick as the South East Asian nation ensured they stayed unbeaten with two wins from matches.

The scoring was opened early with Thailand awarded a penalty in the opening stages the game, Kurisara Limpawanich converting the spot kick that she earned after being pulled down in the area.

It was d茅j脿 vu only minutes later as Limpawanich was once again fouled inside the Vanuatu penalty area for a second penalty. This time it was Moondong who converted the from the spot.

Moondong had a hat-trick before the half hour following two simple finishes from close range, and Limpawanich scored her second for Thailand to take a 5-0 lead into half time.

Vanuatu鈥檚 sole chance saw Rita Solomon intercept a pass well in her own half and use her pace to dribble into the opposition box but, having been pushed wide and with no support, her shot was off-target.

The second half saw much of the same with Madison Casteen, Julaiporn Jaimulwong and Natcha Kaewanta all getting on the scoresheet.

Despite the scoreline, Vanuatu showed some promising moments with goalkeeper Amelia Reddy and midfielder Solomon performing well.
