Historic Appointment: Heather Garriock named Interim CEO of ����Ӱ��

The Board of ����Ӱ�� proudly welcomes the commencement of Heather Garriock as Interim Chief Executive Officer, following the resignation of James Johnson. 

This appointment marks a historic milestone for ����Ӱ��, with Ms Garriock becoming the first woman to lead the organisation in its history.

As Australia’s and the World’s biggest game, this is a watershed moment in Australian Sporting history.

A distinguished former Matilda, Olympian and sports administrator, Ms Garriock brings extensive experience to the role. She previously served as CEO of Australian Taekwondo, has been a director on the FA Board since 2021, and currently serves on the Asian Football Confederation’s Technical Committee.

Ms Garriock’s on-field career is equally illustrious. She represented the Matildas in three FIFA Women’s World Cups, three AFC Women’s Asian Cups, and two Olympic Games. Her outstanding contribution to the game was recognised in 2021 with her induction into the ����Ӱ�� Hall of Fame. 

In accordance with governance standards, Ms Garriock stepped down from her role on the Board of ����Ӱ�� yesterday.

Ms Garriock will serve as Interim CEO while the Board conducts a local and global search for a permanent Chief Executive Officer.
