AFC Women鈥檚 Football Day Celebrations at Abbotsford JFC

Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women鈥檚 Football Day celebrations were held on Wednesday 26th April at Abbotsford Juniors Football Club (AJFC), a CDSFA-based club.

The event was held at AJFC to reward them for their excellent work in improving participant experience in the Women and Girls space at their club such as delivering specialised programs for female goalkeepers, upskilling training sessions for those new to football and starting their first Over 35鈥檚 women鈥檚 team.

AJFC are one of the clubs to have been featured in our Club Case Studies document as part of the Game Changer 鈥 Club Development Program.

The evening started off with a MiniRoos Girls tournament supported by the club sponsor who provided a trophy for the winners. The second activity for the evening was an Introduction to Football Skills training session aimed at new players coming into the game at different age groups between 8-14 years of age. This session was delivered with two 西瓜影视 female coaches who regularly work in delivering MiniRoos and Schools programs during the year.

The final activity for the evening was a training session for the club's brand new Over 35鈥檚 Women's teams delivered by our two female coaches who had the opportunity to coach players older than they were in a fun and positive learning environment.

The event was delivered with support from the AFC and collaboration with a group of 西瓜影视 staff and AJFC volunteers to ensure a positive experience for all participants.

Chris Williamson, President of Abbotsford Juniors Football Club, talked about his club hosting their first-ever AFC Women鈥檚 Football Day and what it will mean for the growth of female participation.

鈥淎bbotsford Juniors was excited to be invited to partner with 西瓜影视 to co-create and host our very first AFC Women鈥檚 Football Day.  It can be a daunting experience starting out playing football with no experience and events like this help provide our female players with some basic knowledge, training tips and drills to help make that journey a better one."

"The smiles on the faces of our players, from our youngest Under 8 girls right through to our first-time Over 35's Women players were testament to how much they enjoyed the sessions. A big thank you to Angelo Maralit (Program Coordinator - Club Development) and the 西瓜影视 team for making the event possible!鈥

We thank AJFC for hosting the event and we look forward to seeing the great things the club continues to do for their community.
