Western Sydney will play host to the CommBank Junior Matildas when a 30-player squad comes together for the second time this year as the build-up continues for April鈥檚 AFC U17 Women鈥檚 Asian Cup Indonesia 2024鈩 Qualifying鈥疪ound 1.
The second assembly will take place over five days commencing on 20 February and concluding on 24 February 2023.
Head Coach Rae Dower said she is looking forward to overseeing the next set of players as she scours Australia for players to make up the final squad in April.
鈥淲e鈥檙e excited to get straight back into our second camp of the year as we ramp up our preparations for our Round 1 Qualifiers in Mongolia,鈥 Dower said.
鈥淥n the back of the friendly matches against the Korea Republic late last year, and these back-to-back camps in February, we鈥檒l have been able to provide 50 players with an opportunity to showcase their talents in a national team assembly.
Sydney鈥檚 training camp squad sees nine new players attending for the first time, with seven Member Federations represented overall.
鈥淭he staff and I couldn鈥檛 be happier with the quality of the players we鈥檝e seen so far and we鈥檙e looking forward to another great week of laying the foundations for how we want to play in these upcoming Qualifiers,鈥 she continued.
鈥淥ver the next couple of months, we鈥檒l start to travel around the country conducting Elite Matches for 2007/2008 born players. We want to ensure that every talented player in Australia has the opportunity to reach their full potential and to give every talent a chance, we will travel far and wide to unearth that potential,鈥 Dower concluded.
