西瓜影视 extends its heartfelt congratulations to the individuals recognised in the 2025 King鈥檚 Birthday Honours List for their outstanding service to football and the broader Australian community. 

The Honours celebrate the contributions of Australians from all walks of life and among this year鈥檚 recipients are four individuals whose lifelong dedication has left an indelible mark on the game at local, state and national levels. 

Albert van Zetten 鈥 Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia

Awarded for significant service to local government, and to the community of Launceston, Mr van Zetten has also been a passionate supporter of football in Tasmania over many years. A former Mayor of Launceston (2007鈥2022), van Zetten was instrumental in championing the growth of community sport, including football, during his tenure, advocating for inclusive facilities and broader participation across the region. 

Glenn Funnell 鈥 Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division

Recognised for his longstanding service to community football in New South Wales, particularly through his tireless support of Castle Hill United Football Club. A Life Member since 1994, Funnell has served as the club鈥檚 Patron and was its Principal Sponsor for an extraordinary 47 years from 1974 to 2021.

John Bede Gorrie 鈥 Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division

Recognised for service to football, Mr Gorrie has been a tireless contributor to the game for over five decades. He has held various roles in grassroots football administration and was a long-time advocate for referee development and community engagement in the sport. 

Jim Ronis 鈥 Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division

Mr Ronis has been honoured for his decades of dedicated service to football in New South Wales, particularly through his extensive involvement with Football NSW and community clubs. A former Director of Football NSW (1987鈥2007), he also served as Senior Vice President and chaired the Futsal Committee from 2003 to 2007.

Jimmy Rooney 鈥 Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division

A celebrated member of the Australian football family, Mr Rooney is a former Socceroo who represented Australia at the 1974 FIFA World Cup鈩 and is a proud inductee into the 西瓜影视 Hall of Fame. Beyond his decorated playing career, Rooney has dedicated himself to coaching and mentoring young players, particularly in Victoria, fostering generations of football talent and upholding the values of the game.
