Leading players from Westfield Matildas and Football Ferns have thrown their support behind the decision for Australia and New Zealand to Bid 鈥楢s One鈥 to host the FIFA Women鈥檚 World Cup鈩 in Asia-Pacific in 2023.
Australia鈥檚 Sam Kerr and New Zealand鈥檚 Rosie White both believe that the tournament would offer profound benefits for the game, with women鈥檚 football in Asia and Oceania receiving significant sporting and commercial investment and interest should the nations receive the dual right to host FIFA鈥檚 global women鈥檚 showpiece.
鈥淗osting the FIFA Women鈥檚 World Cup鈩 in Australia would be a dream come true for me,鈥 said Kerr, who scored five goals in four games at this year鈥檚 FIFA Women鈥檚 World Cup鈩 in France.
鈥淭here is so much untapped potential, not just in Australia but right across Asia and the Pacific region, that I really do believe we would offer something incredibly special to FIFA.
鈥淚 really believe that Australia and New Zealand would be incredible hosts to take the game forward.
鈥淚t is also fitting that New Zealand was the Matildas鈥 first full international opponent 40 years ago and now we are partnering in a Bid to host the biggest women鈥檚 sporting tournament on the planet,鈥 she said.

White, who has represented New Zealand at three senior Women鈥檚 World Cups as well as at U-17 and U-20 Women鈥檚 World Cups, said hosting the tournament in Asia-Pacific would be a game changer for women鈥檚 football.
鈥淚f New Zealand and Australia were to host a World Cup it would change football in region forever,鈥 White said.
鈥淚 had a taste for it with the U-17 Women鈥檚 World Cup (in New Zealand) in 2008 and that is, still to this day, one of my favourite memories.
鈥淚 could not think of a better opportunity than hosting a World Cup to help women鈥檚 football skyrocket in New Zealand 鈥 to inspire the next generations and drive investment into our sport.
鈥淣ew Zealand would be an amazing host for the World Cup 鈥 not only are we a hugely popular destination for tourists, but we know we can put on a show. New Zealanders are fantastic at banding together and getting things done, we are known for being amazing hosts,鈥 she said.
Australia鈥檚 and New Zealand鈥檚 women鈥檚 national football teams were represented at today鈥檚 historic co-confederation Bid launch by Steph Catley (Australia) and Rebekah Stott (New Zealand). Catley and Stott are teammates in Australia鈥檚 Westfield W-League with Melbourne City FC.
Confirmation of the 鈥楢s One鈥 FIFA Women鈥檚 World Cup鈩 Bid was made at AAMI Park in Melbourne on Friday morning just hours before the Official Bid Book was to be submitted to FIFA at their global headquarters in Zurich.
