NSW Government backs 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup with Significant Investment

Î÷¹ÏÓ°ÊÓ and the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026â„¢ Local Organising Committee (LOC) welcomed a significant investment from the NSW Government, confirmed in the 2025–26 State Budget released yesterday, to support the delivery of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026â„¢ — Asia’s premier women’s football tournament.

This investment is a component of the New South Wales’ Government’s commitment to women’s sport and major event leadership, ensuring Sydney will play a central and vibrant role in hosting the tournament and welcoming the best teams from across Asia.

The funding will support:

1. The staging of 11 tournament matches in Sydney;
2. Six group stage matches at Western Sydney Stadium, located in one of Australia’s most diverse and football-passionate communities;
3. A headline International Women’s Day clash on Sunday 8 March 2026, with the Matildas playing at the iconic Stadium Australia;
4. Stadium Australia also hosting two Quarter-Finals, a Semi-Final, and the Final;
5. Event promotion and fan experience across Greater Sydney; and
6. Approximately 62% of all tournament tickets will be sold in NSW — offering a powerful platform to showcase Sydney’s multiculturalism and welcome fans from all over Asia.

This funding is additional to the NSW Football Legacy Program initiative from the NSW Government.
