CommBank Young Matildas open training session and meet and greet in Werribee, sign up to attend on February 15

Wyndham City will welcome Australia鈥檚 U-20 female football team, the CommBank Young Matildas to Werribee this month, for their training camp at Galvin Park from 13 鈥 22 February.

As part of their visit, local football players aged 12-16 years will have the exciting opportunity to meet the CommBank Young Matildas following an open training session that will be held on 15 February.

Young players will be able to ask questions, take photos and learn what it takes to be play for Australia.

Also while in Melbourne this month, the CommBank Young Matildas will play matches against A-League Women competition leaders Western United and Melbourne City.

The 10-day training camp in Wyndham City will bring together a 28-player squad to prepare for next month鈥檚 Round 1 of the 2024 AFC U-20 Women鈥檚 Asian Cup Qualifiers.

The CommBank Young Matildas will take on Kyrgyz Republic, Guam and Iraq in the qualifiers and the winner will progress to Round 2 which will be played in June this year - the four Round 2 winners will earn a spot in the finals.

Wyndham City Council Mayor, Cr Susan McIntyre said: "It is an honour for our city to be able to support the growth and development of Australia's young female footballers as they work towards the AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup.鈥

Wyndham City鈥檚 Active City portfolio holder, Cr Peter Maynard said attracting elite levels of football to Wyndham would no doubt help inspire local young footballers.
