Awer Mabil says can鈥檛 wait to pull on the new Socceroos jersey and represent Australia on the international stage after he was one of the key players to help reveal the new Nike National Team Kits on Thursday.
The FC Midtjylland attacker , which is constructed with 100% recycled polyester from plastic bottles and will unify the Matildas and Socceroos in key tournaments leading up to the biggest football events of 2022 and 2023.
When Mabil pulls on the green and gold again he says it will be another "privilege" to represent the whole of Australia as well as the African-Australia community.
鈥淚t鈥檚 everything because as soon as I pull that on, I know I鈥檓 representing 26 million people,鈥 said Mabil.
鈥淚 go out there and I just give it my best, to defend these colours, and get a result. It鈥檚 a privilege every time.鈥
He added: 鈥淭o be wearing this kit, it鈥檚 something that鈥檚 pretty cool and not just for me. For the community back home in Australia to see one of their own coming through and also being one of the faces of the Socceroos kit.
鈥淚 think it鈥檚 going to inspire the next generation which is something that鈥檚 more important than anything else.鈥
鈥淚鈥檓 working hard every day to make sure that I pave a good way for the young Africans that will come out.
鈥淭hey need someone to look up too, so I dedicate all my time to making sure I lead by example. I鈥檓 very grateful to be doing what I鈥檓 doing, and I鈥檒l continue to push my limits.鈥

Upon seeing the kit for the first time, Mabil was immediately reminded of his journey from being a fan of the Socceroos seeing Australia win the 2015 AFC Asian Cup to becoming a member of the playing squad.
鈥淲hen I first saw the kit, the first thing that came to my head was the Asian Cup in 2015,鈥 he said.
鈥淚 remember I was watching at home, the final, and of course watching the whole campaign. It sort of reminded me of being a Socceroos fan at home to now be here wearing it.
He says it feels amazing to wear the kit and he believes it鈥檚 more than just a football jersey.
鈥淚t鈥檚 pretty stylish and that鈥檚 what I like it about it the most. You can wear it out. It鈥檚 not just a football jersey - it鈥檚 more than that.鈥
