Club Changer Celebrates Clubs Creating Safer Spaces in Football

This June, nine football clubs from all corners of Australia have been celebrated as Club Changers of the Month for their incredible work in safeguarding. 

Each of these clubs took part in ����Ӱ��’s Safeguarding for Community Clubs webinar, and many encouraged multiple members to get involved. Their collective efforts are making football safer, more welcoming, and more inclusive—and they’re setting the standard for others to follow.

Bundanoon Rebels FC (Football NSW)

Bundanoon Rebels FC stood out thanks to how they’ve embraced their Club Changer action plan. They’ve taken a good look at what they’re doing well and where they can improve, especially around child safety and inclusion. Their team-first mindset and commitment to growth really set the tone.

Altona East SC (Football Victoria)

Altona East SC is leading by example in safeguarding and community impact. From championing cultural diversity to putting child safety first, they’ve built a club culture that feels safe and inclusive. Their constant drive to learn and do better is what really shines.

Ulverstone SC (Football Tasmania)

Ulverstone SC has fully embraced the Club Changer program, creating a safer space for everyone involved, from players to volunteers. They’ve stepped up their governance and put strong focus on inclusion and child protection, showing what real leadership looks like.

Campbelltown City FC (Football SA)

Campbelltown City FC is setting the bar in South Australia, making safeguarding a core part of how they operate. With great leadership, solid policies and clear processes in place, they’re building a strong, supportive environment for everyone at the club.

Weston Junior FC (Northern NSW Football)

Weston Junior FC takes safeguarding seriously, meeting and delivering on Australian standard and regulations. The club has also shared updated codes of conduct and clear expectations across to all club members, with their ongoing efforts making sure the club stays safe and supportive for all.

Baldivis Districts FC (Football West)

Baldivis Districts FC, WA’s only female-only club, is doing great things. They’ve introduced a Sideline Behaviour Initiative to keep the game positive for players, coaches and fans alike. It’s all about creating a fun, respectful space where everyone can thrive.

West Canberra Wanderers FC (Capital Football)

West Canberra Wanderers FC is committed to creating a culture where all members feel safe, seen and supported. The Club continues to push their safeguarding efforts to go beyond policies, and be grounded in their lived values: respect, fairness, and accountability.

Port Darwin FC (Football Northern Territory)

Port Darwin FC is all about keeping their community safe. They’ve focused on ongoing learning and policies that protect members at every level, making the club a safe and inclusive place to play.

Redlynch Strikers United FC (Football Queensland)

Redlynch Strikers United FC, believe that a strong, inclusive, and values-driven culture is the foundation for long-term success, both on and off the field. Over the past year, they have taken deliberate steps to reshape their club environment to better serve current members and future generations.
