Football Federation Australia (FFA) has expressed its sadness at the passing of Ronald J Walker AC CBE.
Mr Walker was an inaugural member of the FFA Board and served for nine years.
FFA Chairman Steven Lowy AM said Mr Walker had contributed great energy, focus and business acumen to the task of restructuring Australian football.
“Ron made a huge contribution to Australian life in many areas. He played a major role in the restructure of football which has taken the game to unprecedented heights in this country,” said Lowy.
“My father was one of Ron’s long-standing and closest friends, and I also knew Ron for many years.
“I always regarded him not just as an outstanding business figure, but as someone who relentlessly sought out every opportunity to make a difference.
“On behalf of the Australian football community and many people from the global game who knew Ron, I send our deepest sympathies to Barbara and the family,” he said.
